BRICS summit

Challenge

In July 2015 the Heads of State and Government leaders of the BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, met in the Russian town Ufa. The temporary accommodation needed for this summit had to meet strict quality and safety requirements. The large distance also caused logistical challenges.

Solution

Veldeman supplied about 5,500 m² tents which were used as meeting room, press room, restaurant, exhibition room, for storage and access control. The project was meticulously planned in close consultation with the client, so that everything would go smoothly on the location. The transportation of the materials to Russia took two weeks and no less than 18 trucks were needed. The installation team needed 3 weeks to build the infrastructure and 2 weeks to disassemble everything. The inside as well as the outside of the tents were personalised by means of prints.

The BRICS summit was the third  summit in Russia for which Veldeman supplied the temporary accommodation. We also supplied the temporary infrastructure for the G8 in 2006 and the G20 in 2013, both in Saint Petersburg. For the G20, a multi-storey tent and an aluminum hall were completely printed in order to imitate President Putin’s work palace.
