VIP village Tour of Flanders
Challenge
A VIP village on the Oude Kwaremont is not only a challenge for the riders, but also for the Tour of Flanders organizers. This part of the course is spectacular for cycling enthusiasts, and that makes the VIP area on the Oude Kwaremont a great asset for the organization. Veldeman faced two major challenges: building a tent village on a very steep slope and guaranteeing optimum visibility along the course for the VIP guests.
Solution
We built a VIP village on the Oude Kwaremont for Panama Events and their client Flanders Classics. The difference in ground level is best described as pretty impressive. The accommodation extends over a length of 300 metres along the site, and that requires a high level of technical insight to provide accommodation for guests in a safe and comfortable VIP area. The two elevated, transparent, arched halls (Phoenix) serve as attractive reception areas. The other alu halls are divided into zones with personalized lounges, ‘walking dinners’, catering spaces and technical areas. To offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle on the Oude Kwaremont, the floor stand is laid stepwise and following the curvature of the bend. This way everyone can follow events from the front row during what is often a decisive moment in the Tour of Flanders.
