Temporary supermarket Delhaize Rumst
Delhaize needed a temporary supermarket in Rumst as their building was being refurbished. The temporary building had to be erected in the parking area of the permanent shop, next to the construction site. Veldeman was given the job of building a temporary shop that was large enough and also included all the necessary services and still left enough space for parking. This was quite a challenge, bearing in mind the space available.
We developed a tailor-made shop concept, taking into account the challenges presented by the layout of the area. We decided to take the temporary supermarket to a higher level, literally in this case, by building a double-decker structure and thus creating a second story. The customers were able to do their shopping or collect their shopping on the ground floor, while the changing rooms, offices, canteen and kitchen for the staff were on the first floor. Our total solution included the entrance with a gently sloping ramp that led to automatic doors, there were solid floors, a loading and unloading bay with roller shutters, adapted lighting, heating, a ventilation system, security measures and cold stores. In this way we made optimum use of the available space and we were able to provide the best possible comfort for both customers and staff without causing any problems with parking. As you can see in the testimonial, the customer was more than satisfied.
