The challenge: maximizing protection for high-end finished products

Market leader Marlux-Stradus is both a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality concrete solutions for outdoor spaces, such as paving stones and tiles. “Once a year, we produce virtually all of our materials for the next twelve months. These are very high-quality materials that therefore require shelter for an extended period of time. Concrete products are highly sensitive to lime efflorescence, even when packaged. This is especially true for dark-colored concrete elements, where it can lead to significant discoloration – something that is, of course, detrimental to the perceived quality.”

There is no shortage of space at Marlux-Stradus’s Ghent site, located right next to a branch of the port. What was lacking, however, was sufficient covered storage space to stock their enormous production volumes. “So I started my preliminary research. With a view to potential future expansions of the site, we deliberately looked for a temporary and demountable structure with limited foundation requirements; but one that was still solid and high-quality enough to easily last for several years.”
