Indoor tennis hall TC Capelle aan den IJssel
Challenge
TC Capelle aan den IJssel wanted to allow people to play tennis all year round, both for training and competition. An indoor tennis facility had to be integrated into the new Sportpark De Schenkel. The dimensions of the tennis hall had to meet the requirements of KNLTB for national and international competition matches. Extra space had to be provided between and behind the courts.
Solution
For TC Capelle aan den Ijssel, Veldeman built an indoor tennis facility of 40m x 116m, the largest in the Netherlands. Seating was provided between and behind the courts. What is unique to this project is the terracotta colour of the facades and edge of the roof fabrics, thereby ensuring that the tennis facility pleasantly fits in with the gravel outdoor courts. The side walls can be removed in the summer, meaning that the tennis hall can be used throughout the year. Lighting costs are able to be squeezed thanks to translucent roof fabrics.
