Enclosures remediation project Sevenson
Challenge
For Sevenson Environmental Services Inc., market leader in environmental remediation, it was crucial to safely, efficiently, and in a controlled manner remove and treat contaminated soil at a polluted site in Pennsylvania. The work required large enclosures that not only provided protection from the elements but also prevented the spread of contaminants. Additionally, the structures had to be tall enough to accommodate the use of large excavators. For this long-term remediation project, which is being carried out in phases, a durable and flexible solution was essential.
Solution
Through our U.S. subsidiary, Universal Fabric Structures, we developed and delivered three large enclosures that enable the remediation project to proceed under controlled conditions:
-
In 2010, we installed the first Material Process Building, a 45 by 125 meter modular structure for the treatment of contaminated soil.
-
In 2024, a second identical Material Process Building was added to expand processing capacity.
-
We are currently constructing an impressive Excavation Building measuring 75 by 100 meters above the first contaminated zone. With a sidewall height of 17 meters, it allows for the use of large excavation equipment.
-
A second Excavation Building is being considered for a future project phase.
All modular structures consist of a steel frame covered with a PVC fabric, ensuring both durability and flexibility.
With this solution, we support Sevenson in their mission to protect people and the environment, delivering custom enclosures tailored to their complex and large-scale remediation project.
