How did we do it?
Challenge
LTC Lisse wanted to offer its members the possibility to play tennis all year round, whatever the weather. The existing tennis courts had to be covered without damaging them. The tennis facility had to be provided with a space for spectators and a connection to the changing rooms and the cafeteria. Our mission was clear: be swift and careful, and that’s exactly what we did.
Solution
Veldeman built an aluminium tennis hall for the roofing of 5 tennis courts. The tennis facility was designed in accordance with the Eurocode, a standard comparable to that for traditional permanent tennis halls. During construction, the courts were fully protected to prevent damage. The hall was fitted out with a translucent PVC roof fabric to guarantee optimum playing comfort and a saving on lighting costs. The side walls of the tennis facility can easily be rolled up: in summer players feel as if they are playing in the open air, while they are protected against the cold, wind, snow and rain during winter. Behind the courts, an additional tiled space is provided from which the play can be viewed. A covered bridge was built to connect to the changing rooms and cafeteria.
