How did we do it?
TC Naaldwijk was looking for a solution to allow comfortable tennis playing all year round, regardless of the weather conditions. The cover of the tennis courts could not have an industrial look and had to be usable both in summer and in winter.
Veldeman built a cover over the tennis court, a fabric structure of 36 m x 70 m, that meets the standards of permanent buildings. A new aluminium profile was developed which achieved a clear span of up to 40 m with a snow load of 70 kg/m². The roofing of the covered tennis courts consist of translucent PVC fabric, which provides a natural, uniform light. This not only ensures optimum playing comfort, but also savings on the energy bill. The side walls can easily be rolled up, allowing players to feel as if they are playing in the open air in summer, while they are protected against cold, wind, snow and rain during winter. The cover of the tennis courts, which was built as an extension of the clubhouse, can be used throughout the year, guaranteeing the profitability of the investment.
