Military hangar Indian Air Force

Challenge

The avionics (electronics) aboard the SU-30 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force sometimes became overheated if the airframes remained unprotected and without air conditioning in the sun for long periods. This caused serious security risks for both the airframes and pilots. A military shelter solution became a necessity.

Solution

Veldeman designed and supplied 27 RESS structures (Rapid Erection Sun Shelters) according to the specifications of the Indian Air Force. This type of military hangar or shelter consists of a roof structure with open walls to allow quick entry and exit of the aircraft. Thanks to the modular and lightweight design the military shelters also meet the requirements of rapid erection.
