Indoor tennis structure Shankill
Challenge
The City Council of Dublin wanted to build an indoor tennis facility in the short term. The tennis facility had to offer spectators the possibility to follow training and competitions and provide additional storage space for tennis equipment. The entire structure had to be given additional insulation.
Solution
Veldeman built a steel indoor tennis hall for the roofing of 3 tennis courts. This was designed in accordance with the Eurocode, a standard comparable to the standard for traditional permanent tennis halls. The translucent roof fabric not only ensures low energy costs, but also provides optimum playing comfort. With regard to insulation, an additional fabric was provided for roof, facade and side walls. An insulated steel plate was placed on the outside up to a height of 3m. The tennis facility was provided with a viewing platform and storage area.
