How did we do it?
Challenge
For its 60th anniversary celebrations CERN (the European Centre for Nuclear Research in Geneva) was looking for tents to provide shelter at 3 different events: a performance by the UNO orchestra, the TEDxCERN conference and – as grand finale – the official CERN 60th anniversary ceremony. One requirement was that the tents had to be black on the inside. There was also a need for temporary accommodation for reception, a press area, first aid, safety inspections and as a passage. Strict safety requirements also applied for the entire project.
Solution
CERN selected Veldeman after an international pitch. It was among other things thanks to the strong assets of the unique TFS structure that Veldeman was awarded this prestigious project. The 2 TFS structures that Veldeman installed for CERN distinguish themselves through their unique curved shape, high free space, high weight loading, black interior and silver exterior. In total, Veldeman erected 6,000m² of tents.
