How did we do it?
For the 4 concert stages of the Madonna MDNA Tour, Stageco needed 4 roof systems to temporarily cover the concert space. These had to be nearly flat waterproof roof solutions which had to be invisible from ground level. It had to be possible to quickly assemble and disassemble the system, and furthermore had to be extremely reliable. Given the tight schedule of the tour, problems were unacceptable.
Veldeman developed and produced 4 stage roofs with inflatable fabrics! One podium roof covers an area of approximately 1,100 m² and is composed of 11 inflatable cushions. For the temporary covering of the concert space, the cushions are put and kept under pressure by means of high flow air blowers which are connected with quick-release couplings. They can relatively easily and quickly be placed by sliding them into aluminium frame profiles. Furthermore, the inflatable cushions ensure a good and controlled drainage of rainwater and stability. For the realization of the temporary covering of the concert space, the entire project from design through to delivery was realised in just 3 months. In order to avoid any risks during the tour, the roofs were delivered with a set of spare parts.
