How did we do it?
In 2019 Belgian Premier League KRC Genk took part in the UEFA Champions League, the most important international football tournament for clubs in and around Europe. Both public and media interest in these football matches is immense. This is why the club required additional space to welcome the press and VIPs. KRC Genk called upon Veldeman for this additional press and VIP area. We had previously built a semi-permanent training hall for the club.
Beside the stadium, Veldeman constructed a 15mx20m multi-storey tent that served as a press area. Trainers and players could be interviewed by the television media in line with UEFA guidelines on the upper level. On the ground level there was room for radio and written press. A separate area for KRC Genk staff was also provided for. A connecting linkway was constructed for easy thoroughfare between the multi-storey tent and the stadium.
A 350 m² VIP area was used before and after each Champions League match to welcome VIPs. Both the roof and side walls of the alu hall were stylishly upholstered.
Both tents were equipped with carpet tiles, lighting, heating and the requisite safety provisions such as emergency lighting and fire extinguishers. The structures’ glass windows were personalised with the UEFA Champions League logo.
